About and its owner

    PRC (Practical Radio Communications) and are both owned by George Whitaker and are located in Hamilton, Texas.  George Whitaker is well known as a writer for Radio Guide, Radio World, Nuts 'N' Volts, and Radio Ink. He was chief engineer of several Dallas radio stations before his retirement from radio in 2001. He is a charter member of the S.B.E. (member number 152) and is a CPBE.

    He authored the book Radio Engineering for the Non-Engineer in 1988, and at one time held the record for the most copies of a title sold by the N.A.B. bookstore.  Mr. Whitaker also authored the books Practical Radio Communications Volumes 1 & 2. He was editor and publisher of Tech Tips from Radio Guide. These books have been used all over the world to give engineers practical information.

    In 1989 Mr. Whitaker began making mike flags in his garage as a hobby. Most of the equipment was homemade. Today PRC owns its own building with thousands of dollars in professional equipment.
